Expectations of our Senior Pastor

The Senior Pastor for Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church (the Church) will be a man who is called, ordained, and set apart by God to the gospel ministry, biblically grounded and evangelical in theology, and is committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for Pastors (Jeremiah 3:15).

The Senior Pastor will be one who exemplifies godly character and leadership. He is compassionate in recognizing and meeting the needs of others, innovative, action oriented, committed to results, and demonstrates a high level of excellence and competency.

The Senior Pastor’s responsibilities to the Church are to lead the congregation in prayer, proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, teach the biblical revelation, engage in pastoral care ministries, and provide oversight of all areas of church life and the ministerial staff.

The Senior Pastor will be called to lead the Church to understand, embrace, and accomplish its mission to make disciples both locally and globally through the vision of engaging Christ followers in worship, community, and ministry. He will identify relevant information and help transform this information into individual and organizational knowledge and learning.

The Senior Pastor will serve as the primary leader of the Church. His responsibility is to fulfill God’s calling for our congregation. The Senior Pastor will work with the Deacons, Ministerial Staff and Leadership Teams to establish a shared vision and purpose for the church and translate broad goals into achievable milestones.

The Senior Pastor will work with the Deacons, Leadership Teams and Ministerial Staff to ensure our relevance to the community, the accomplishment of our mission and vision, accountability to our diverse membership and to honor the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
